New Dillo’s downtown

While not a North Austin issue at first blush, good predictible circulation downtown is helpful when we have to get around downtown. Cap Metro is consolidating a sometimes confusing Dillo route schedule into one that is straighforward and comes more often. I think it is a good move. Here is a new map if you are heading downtown.

Updates on North Burnet Gateway

A couple of updates to the NBG zoning. They have a fairly extensive site here http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/zoning/north_burnet.htm with lots of information. The lead planner stays in contact with Milwood, so we’ll give you updates as they accumulate.

The next time we should hear something new will be on Spetember 9th. That will be the public presentation at the Planning Commission (6pm, City Hall) about proposed zoning changes.

Kramer Lane Station update

Capital Metro is nearing several major milestones in the All System’s Go! Long Range Transit Plan, including the impending introduction of MetroRail service. MetroRail service on the Austin to Leander line will have 9 stops, including one in the North Burnet/Gateway area near Kramer Lane.

Kramer Station will be located just south of the intersection of the Capital Metro rail line and Kramer Lane – just east of Burnet Road. Capital Metro has begun upgrading tracks at Kramer Station and plans to begin platform construction soon.

Capital Metro plans to adjust bus routes and schedules to connect Kramer Station to surrounding neighborhoods, major employers and activity centers. Kramer Station is also a future stop for MetroRapid service. Capital MetroRapid is a new service offering enhanced passenger amenities, including real-time bus arrival information at all MetroRapid stops, 10-minute frequency during peak hours and 15 minutes during off-peak service, with bus travel times reduced up to 20 percent.

Bulk Collection Begins August 4, 2008

This is just a reminder that bulk collection begins August 4th for our area. I’m not sure if it is for everyone, but if you received a blue “Bulk Collection” postcard in the mail from the City of Austin a few weeks ago, then our time draws near.

If you want to double check to see if your house is in this pickup zone call the City of Austin Solid Waste Services.
