Open House Meetings to discuss a New Travis County Courthouse in the Upcoming Bond Election

Greetings Residents of Travis County, As you may be aware, on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, the Commissioners Court voted unanimously to place the Civil & Family Courts Complex on the November 3 ballot. The current Hemann Marion Sweatt Courthouse is 84 years old and no longer serves our county residents in an efficient and productive manner.

Several open house events have been planned to educate our community on the need, cost, location, and safety aspects of the new facility. Let me emphasize that Travis County is prohibited by state statue from advocating; therefore, these open house events are for sharing information and answering questions you may have about the new facility, so that you are better informed before November 3.

Attached is a flyer with the dates, times, and locations of the open house events. Please feel free to share this information as you deem appropriate and we look forward to seeing you at any of the events.
Warmly,
Beverly S. Silas

Balcones Trail Community Meeting – Thurs, Aug 20 at 6:30pm

For quite a while now, MNA has been working with the City to resolve the incomplete trail project in Balcones Park that is meant to connect Balcones Park to North Walnut Creek with an Urban Trail, 6 to 8 foot concrete path. After many discussions, MNA believes the city has heard our concerns about the previous designs and plans to take a design presented to them by the neighborhoods. The City is seeking public input on the design of the portion of the trail south of Scribe Drive between Amherst Drive and the baseball field in the Balcones District Park.

Date: August 20, 2015, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: Covenant United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 4410 Duval Road Austin, TX 78727

Overview of projects
The Northern Walnut Creek Trail Phase 1A project consists of the design and construction of 4,250 linear feet of new trail from Amherst Drive to the Mopac Trail currently being built by the Regional Turnpike Authority. This trail will consist of a 10′ wide concrete trail with 2′ shoulders. The trail will have retaining walls to maintain an acceptable slope, storm water facilities to accommodate existing drainage patterns and will have environmental protections to safeguard existing protected species and sensitive areas. The project is currently at 60% design.

Feel free to email us with any questions: mnaboard@milwoodna.com

Segment 4 on this map will be the area covered mostly in this meeting from our understanding: NWalnutCreekTrailPhase1-A(1)
The neighborhoods are proposing this switch back on the trail in order to minimize the slope and the impact of the trail on the current terrain and layout of the park:TrailConcept3
