Share Your Ideas at Public Input Meetings! The goal of this process is to capture the vision, values, and ideas of the community. Your input is crucial to ensure that the new Central Library meets your needs. The following Public Input Meeting has been scheduled in North Austin to provide an opportunity for citizens to meet the design team and to offer input. Thursday, November 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend these Public Input Meetings, you may submit suggestions online. Once the public input is collected and sorted, recurring themes will be identified as priorities. These priorities will be considered as the design is developed. The design team will share these priorities and the designs with the Library Commission and the City Council at the project’s approval milestones. Election Day is coming up!
Don’t forget there’s an election underway in Texas right now! While obviously not as prominent in the media as our last elections, the topics are still important nevertheless.

Information about early voting sites, day-of voting sites, and a comprehensive and non-partisan explanation of each issue on the ballot can be found at the League of Women Voters’ website HERE.

Zilker Park “Great Lawn” Status
I thought this was interesting enough to post:
On Saturday, October 3, 2009, rainy weather resulted in muddy conditions on the field when lower layer soil amendments percolated above the turf and covered the sod during the Austin City Limits event.
Today the Parks and Recreation Department held the first post-event meeting with event organizers to discuss a more restrictive load out plan and preliminary remediation actions. Concurrently, at the department's request, the organizers will begin immediate remediation steps supervised by the department. Contingent upon weather conditions, it is anticipated that reconditioning work will take an additional two weeks. It is anticipated that the lawn will begin to be opened by the end of October. The department expects to complete its initial turf condition assessment and complete remediation requirements also by the end of October. Event organizers will be performing and funding all the required work under department supervision as required in the event planning in the previous months
