Summitt Elementary’s Fall Fest 2013 is this SATURDAY!
After your successful Garage Sale, head on over to Summitt to enjoy some FUN!
Fall Fest is one of Summitt PTA’s biggest fundraisers of the school year. There will be face painting, a petting zoo, a book walk and a haunted house! Try your luck on the Spinning Wheel, the Pringle Toss and throwing toilet paper in a toilet! Play games, win tokens and “buy” prizes at the prize booth. Come hungry — there will be hot dogs, sausage wraps, cotton candy, popcorn, chips and Rita’s Italian Ice. The PTA needs your help to make this a successful event for our school. See you there: Saturday, October 19, 2013 (4-7pm)
Milwood Neighborhood-wide Garage Sale: Sat Oct 19
There’s still time to sign up for the Milwood neighborhood-wide garage sale. Just send us your address, and we’ll add it to our list!
We’ll take care of advertising on craigslist, the statesman, and putting up signage around the neighborhood. We will publish a final list of all the participating houses the day before the sale. All you need to do is get ready for a crowd on Saturday October 19th!
Walnut Creek Trail Update
- Based on citizen concerns, a portion of trail within Balcones Park is currently being redesigned. It will consist of a 10-foot wide concrete path through the park but will not likely be ADA-compliant. In order to provide an ADA-compliant alternate path, the contractor is currently repairing a portion of sidewalk along the south side of Scribe Drive.
- The City is currently gathering the necessary survey data for the redesign.
- The City will provide the public with an opportunity to comment and provide input on the redesign at future neighborhood meetings.
- In addition to the trail segment redesign, the contractor is building retaining walls and trail in the TXDOT right of way, located underneath Mopac and the Cap Metro rail line. This work is expected to be complete by mid-November. Following completion of these portions, the contractor will move to Walnut Creek Metro Park.
- Those portions between the parks are currently in permit review awaiting comment and appearance before required City boards and commissions.
- The current construction schedule is under review because of additional design and permit issues. The project is expected to be complete in late 2014.
Preliminary Redistricting Maps
The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission has released the official preliminary map of proposed 10 districts of Austin. Our neighborhood, as well as Walnut Crossing, is currently in District 6 (far northwest).
