Stay Alert During the Holidays
One of our Milwood neighbors contacted us to provide the following information.
“There was a forced break-in on the corner of Ganymede and Europa on Thursday Dec 18 between 1pm and 6pm. The robber gained entrance by forcing the front door open and taking a big screen television and a laptop. If anyone witnessed suspicious activity please contact the police (311).”
As always, please keep an eye out in the neighborhood for any suspicious activities especially during the next few weeks. Here are some general holiday safety tips that everyone can peruse.Â
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
Found – Irish Terrier
A lost Irish Terrier was found on Saturday 12/13. If you are missing one, please call 944-7480.

Holidays Events for Milwood
The Milwood Neighborhood Association has two exciting holiday events going on and we hope you’ll join us in spreading some holiday cheer.
Holiday House Lighting Contest!
Once again, the Neighborhood Association is hosting its Holiday Lighting Contest. The best lit house in Milwood will receive a $25 gift card from the Home Depot.
Over the next two weeks we will scour the neighborhood looking for the best house lighting Milwood has to offer. If you have a house you would like to nominate, please send us the address at mnaboard@milwoodna.com. All submissions are due by December 15th. We will post pictures of the top houses in Milwood on www.milwoodna.com . Once they are posted, you can drive or walk through the neighborhood and send us an email at mnaboard@milwoodna.com with your favorite (one vote per household!).
Voting will close December 19th and the winner will be announced on the website the evening of December 20th. We look forward to seeing everyone’s bright and creative decorations!
Holiday Food Drive benefitting Caritas of Austin!
In cooperation with Summitt Elementary, we’re also hosting a Supply Drive for those in need in our community. The drive will run from December 3rd – 17th.
Canned food, baby supplies, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies are just a few of the basic items that many in our community are going without this year. Please help us provide for those less fortunate than us by offering a donation to this worthy cause. Full lists of items needed can be found on the collection bins at Summitt Elementary, at the Texan Market, and inside the Milwood Public Library. All donations will benefit Caritas of Austin, an organization which provides a continuum for those experiencing poverty that begins with a safety net and links them to resources to achieve self-sufficiency.
Thanks in advance for your generosity and for helping both Milwood and Summit support this great cause.
Appreciation
Thank you all for visiting and contributing to our website. Happy holiday blessings to all.
AAS Statesman new contact
From the Statesman:
I write StatesmanWatch for the Austin American-Statesman. My column runs every Wednesday on the front of the Metro/State page.
The premise of StatesmanWatch is simple. We focus attention on a problem an individual or a group has that has been overlooked or ignored by the relevant municipal agency, department or utility. The problem can be as simple as a street light out or a broken curb or as complicated as an unfair or illegal city policy.
If you have seen the column, you know StatesmanWatch has an outstanding record of getting things fixed.
I am reaching out to neighborhood organizations because I want to insure my column is helping people in all parts of Austin. If you look at the map on our website you’ll see we do that now. I want to do it better.
Please let me know how I can help your group. I’m particularly interested in hearing about problems I can get to work on now. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
