Bulk Collection Begins February 1, 2010

This is just a reminder that bulk collection begins February 1st for our area. I’m not sure if it is for everyone, but if you received a blue Bulk Collection postcard in the mail from the City of Austin a few weeks ago, then the time draws near.

If you want to double check to see if your house is in this pickup zone call the City of Austin Solid Waste Services.

Next Neighborhood Watch Meeting – This Wednesday!

Our second meeting with the Austin Police Department regarding the Neighborhood Watch program will be held at 7 pm, Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 at the Milwood Branch Library. All neighbors are encouraged to attend for more information about recent neighborhood events and the Neighborhood Watch program. This is the 2nd meeting and will get us just that much closer to re-establishing our Communty Watch. We also need YOU to step up as a block captain for your street or sectyour on of street to help us communicate important information to your neighbors about how they can protect their homes more effectively. It is a low-commitment, high-glory job! Thanks in advance for your help with this crucial step in riddling our neighborhood of unwanted crime.

This session’s focus will be on personal safety and is again presented by Officer Dunn, our local APD representative. This is a great time to meet Officer Dunn face to face, and especially, to meet your neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there.

Information About The Water Quality of Upper Walnut Creek

Since 2006, a couple who lives off of Silver Creek Drive has been monitoring water quality in Walnut Creek through the LCRA Colorado River Watch Network program, and recently they created a Blog to document their findings and spread the word on the health of Walnut Creek. This blog has details about the monitoring site 290-Walnut Creek by the Metric Blvd bridge.

Update to Found Dogs

After getting some information from a couple of our neighbors, we have determined that a pair of dogs, probably brothers, were dumped in the neighborhood. One is named Leroy and the other is Lester. We think they are border collies. The phone number listed on their tags is from a disconnected Decatur, Texas line.

If you know anything about these dogs or their owners, please send us a note so we can put you in contact with the neighbors who found the dogs.
