2012 Single Stream Recycling Schedule-Corrected!

It took the City of Austin a while to update their single stream recycling schedule. In part, this may have been due to the brand-spanking new web site they now have in public beta. It looks great but takes a bit of effort to figure out where you are going. In order to help smooth your transition into 2012, I’m providing a link to the city’s 2012 recycling schedule.

PLEASE NOTE that we are on the Week A Wednesday recycling schedule.

A note from and about the coach:

Even though I have been successful as an above average age group competitor in running and triathlon, I am one of the most relaxed and easy going athletes you will find! If being an athlete was not enjoyable, I would not be one! So, my focus as a coach is to help others enjoy athleticism, too. As a result, I especially love working with new athletes of all ages and walks of life, emphasizing fun and injury prevention so that they will be more likely to stick to an active lifestyle. Come join us on Monday evenings and find out how fun and safe workouts can be! –Coach Cindy

Making Fitness Goals Happen in 2012

It’s 2012!  With the beginning of a new year, there is hope.  The hope and excitement of the new year bringing us things we have always wanted in our lives.  Do you feel it?  Have you thought about what you want for your life in 2012?

One of the most common new year’s resolutions is putting more physical activity in our lives, ie., adding some sort of fitness goals.  Have you had these types of goals in the past?  Were you successful in sticking to your fitness resolutions?

If you are like most people, you may have made the same resolution or a similar one about getting active in the past and not quite stuck to it throughout the year, or, at the least, not as much as you had hoped.  So, what makes you think you will keep to it this year?  What are some of the ingredients that could help make you successful this year?

Here are some suggestions that might help make 2012 the year you become active and stay active!

1.  Plan for accountability by joining group activities.

2.  Put your fitness activities on your calendar each week FIRST in pen.

3.  Log your activities.  Your own progress will encourage you!

4.  Make it fun!  You are more likely to stick with something that is fun.

5.  Make it social.  Surround yourselves with active people.

6.  Sign up for an event that gently pushes you to keep going.

7.  Make your training convenient so it is more likely to happen.

So, what do you think?  Will you be successful this year?  As you now know and probably knew already, it is not enough to just wish for something.  You must take steps to understand how your resolutions will actually happen.  Hopefully these ideas will help.  Congratulations on wanting to become more active!  Best wishes in making it happen!  Let me know how you do.  And hopefully the MONDAY NIGHT EASY RUNS can help with your success!

Happy 2012!  May all your fitness goals happen!
