Lost Dog

“Cool Hand Luke” has been missing since early morning, July 8th. He was on a trail walk at the Amherst & Duval/Balcones District Park when he was spooked and ran into the woods. He was wearing his collar with a Love-A-Bull tag. If you have seen this dog, please contact us so that we can reunite him with his owner. PLEASE REMEMBER that Balcones District Park IS NOT an off-leash park. All dogs, no matter how well you think they are trained, must be on a leash and under your control at all times.

Volunteer Meeting June 25th

***Next PLANNING MEETING: Monday June 25th 7:30PM at the Silver Grill, 4005 West Parmer Lane***

1. Flyers – available now! Please come to pick
up some 4th of July flyers at 4103 Dauphine Dr. to distribute on your
street…. It is a very small thing you can do that has a huge collective
impact. Even flyering one small street is of great help. Grab a batch for
your evening stroll around the block. We are out flyering right now, come
pitch in! PLEASE COME GRAB A BUNDLE!!

2. Call for equipment! We need coolers, shade tents, and tables! Please
drop them off at the park before the parade and label your items with your
name and phone number just in case. This year we especially need extra
coolers as we’re holding the smoked brisket and chicken in some of ours. If
you want us to pick up anything from your house, please email us.

3. Volunteers are critical to helping this event run smoothly. Help set up
before the event, break down after, serve food, distribute drinks…there are
so many opportunities! Want to bake cookies or offer up another dessert
for your neighbors? We’d love that too! Contact us to volunteer.

Here’s a list of “point people” that would help take a LOT off our minds/
hands: Please speak up if you will pitch in…

**”handler” for the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble (make sure the band has water, etc.
and walk around with the “Tips for the Band” bucket at intervals during the
picnic)

**equipment wrangler (coordinate picking up of volunteered tables,
shades, coolers from neighbors; pick up and return chairs for the band)

**toter and fetcher (pick up any morning donations for the picnic, etc.)

**membership table for a 30-min shift (Contact Us)

Needed: 4th of July Volunteers!

Milwood Neighborhood Association is looking for volunteers to help us with our 9th annual 4th of July Parade and Picnic. It’s a big event and we need all the able bodies we can get.

We’re having a volunteer meeting on June 18th at 7 pm at the Silver Grill, 4005 Parmer Lane, to start coordinating the big day.

There are a lot of helpful items that we will need to borrow as well. They include:

  • Tables
  • Large ice chests/coolers
  • Canopies/shade pop-ups
  • Large pickup trucks for pickup and delivery of about 40 folding chairs and other items
  • Local business sponsorship donations of gift certificates for our raffle (minimum $25, please)

If you have items you can let us borrow, please make sure they are clearly marked with your name and contact number or address so that we can ensure they are returned to you after the event!

If you have questions or would like to tell us what items we can borrow, please contact us.
