Austin Resource Recovery Job

The city of Austin has 2 openings for Program Event Leaders (helping out with the city’s compost classes). It’s very part-time (maybe 20 hours per month), and it only pays about $12 – 15 per hour. Still, it can be fun and it’s a great way to meet folks interested in zero waste.

You can go to the city’s job site https://www.austincityjobs.org/

and then go to “Search Jobs” and then where it says department, type in Austin Resource Recovery. The job just got posted today and it’s open til April 10th.

AISD Bond Information

AISD has posted a video and information about the Bond package at http://www.austinisd.org/bond. The election for the $890 million bond program is May 11, with early voting on April 29-May 7.

Please mark your calendars for April 13^th, Austin Clean Sweep. After the great success in beautifying Balcones Park on March 2^nd, we will now turn our attention to areas outside the park. Milwood Neighborhood Wide Garage Sale: April 20th!

Springtime means Spring Cleaning! Clear out those closets and that garage, because we’re having another neighborhood-sponsored garage sale day on Saturday, April 20^th! We will post ads in both the Austin American Statesman and on Craigslist, and we’ll place signage throughout the surrounding streets. Our website will also list the addresses of any homes which will be having a garage sale that day. If you would like your address added to the list of participating households, please contact us with your address HERE.

Lost Dog in NW Austin!!!

Blackie is a 10-year old Black Chow mix and weighs about 50 lbs.
She was lost in the Milwood subdivision in the Cabana/Amherst area.

She is microchipped and her collar has the owner information.

Reminder! Its My Park Day March 2, 9 AM to 1 PM

Walnut Crossing and Milwood Neighborhood Associations are partnering with local apartment communities for a general cleanup of Balcones Park
If you have some time Saturday, please come on by and lend a hand, even if you can only stay for part of the time. Thanks in advance to those of you who have already signed up! See you at the Park!

Please see the following link for details and to sign up. http://www.austinparks.org/its-my-park-day.html (click the “Volunteer Here” link on the right side, then go to “Balcones District Park” and click “signup” There’s even a free T-shirt! Water jugs will be on hand so please bring your refillable water bottle. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, etc. Gloves, poison ivy block and trash bags will be provided.
