A great It’s My Park Day & A HUGE THANK YOU!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all our volunteers for their help at Balcones Park’s It’s My Park Day on Sat. Nov. 1, 2025!

A special Thank You to Erik Harris who puts so much energy and time into this event and our park all year!

And big thanks to @LittleFree BakeryATX for keeping us sustained with delicious goodies!

A thanks for all the co-leaders and folks who helped before and after the event, including Austin Parks Foundation, @LittleFreeBakeryATX, Scout Troop 421, Pack 90, & Girl Scouts, Matt M. Ingrid H., Monica H, Celeste B and family, Mary Ann T, and all the volunteers who worked so hard!

Pictures of the event here!

A snapshot of what we accomplished:
-Over 2 miles of trail cleaned up
-7 pounds of Wildflower and native grass seed planted
-40 plus trees mulched
-Tons of trash removed from abandoned campsites
-Nandina shrubs reduced in Northwest corner of Park

Your efforts help keep our neighborhood park looking beautiful! All told, 90 amazing volunteers helped to gather up 113 trash bags worth of debris and litter to clean the park.

It’s My Park Day is biannual, community-led day of service. Volunteers work to improve parks and green spaces around Austin and build community through projects like litter cleanup, tree mulching, invasive species management and more. There’s no better way to show your love for your local park than by pitching in. Look for the next opportunity this fall!

We have never pulled out so much trash as this clean up did! We almost completely cleared out one abandoned camp in the park and now only have two more to go!

We are planning a follow up event to finish cleaning the campsite. If anyone wants to help with that, please let us know at: balconespark (a) gmail.com
