Here is what MNA did in 2016 for Milwood with the help of many:
– Received 2 Grants for $200,000 for Balcones Park Improvements
– Applied for another Grant for Creekside Trail Repairs
– Organized 3 amazing Landscape Designers to create a Concept Plan for our Park (Kristy Street, Neal Charles, & Kim Gilbertson)
– Arranged for the City to provide Balcones Park with a New Larger Playground in 2017
– Presented the City with an improved trail alignment and low water crossing option for the Northern Walnut Creek Trail
– Pressured the City to speed up the Library Renovations & provide the Book Mobile & got $10,000 donated to our library from Google Fiber
– Supported Summitt Elementary
– Supported our Neighborhood Businesses
– Held the Biggest ever July 4th Parade & Picnic
– Liasioned with the City on the Amherst & Duval Intersection Changes
– Holiday Lighting Contest
– Held two Neighborhood-wide Garage Sales (Spring & Fall)
– Monthly Emails & Regular Website Updates
– Crime Alerts
– Held two It’s My Park Clean-up Days (Spring & Fall)
– Established a Neighborhood Group Rate with a Curbside Composting Company
– & More!
Here are our Goals for 2017:
– Establish Neighborhood Planning Workgroup to create an Official Neighborhood Plan
– Establish a Mobility Workgroup to help our neighborhood with growing traffic and concerns
– Complete the Concept Plan for Balcones Park & see Improvements Installed
– Oversee the Completion of the Creekside Trail and the Northern Walnut Creek Trail to establish a easy walking loop around the Park
– Host a Batteries, Oil, Paint & Antifreeze Collection (Spring)
– Continue to work with the City on projects in our area
– Grow our Neighborhood Watch / Crime Alerts & Block Captains
– Work with CapMetro on an alternative service option
– Continue to Push the City for Longer Swim Session
