Election Day is coming up!

Dont forget theres an election underway in Texas right now!  While obviously not as prominent in the media as our last elections, the topics are still important nevertheless.

Early voting ends this Friday, October 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.

Zilker Park “Great Lawn” Status

I thought this was interesting enough to post:

Zilker Park "Great Lawn" Status

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, rainy weather resulted in muddy conditions on the field when lower layer soil amendments percolated above the turf and covered the sod during the Austin City Limits event.

Today the Parks and Recreation Department held the first post-event meeting with event organizers to discuss a more restrictive load out plan and preliminary remediation actions.  Concurrently, at the department's request, the organizers will begin immediate remediation steps supervised by the department. Contingent upon weather conditions, it is anticipated that reconditioning work will take an additional two weeks. It is anticipated that the lawn will begin to be opened by the end of October. The department expects to complete its initial turf condition assessment and complete remediation requirements also by the end of October. Event organizers will be performing and funding all the required work under department supervision as required in the event planning in the previous months
