Citizens Redistricting Commission drawing today!
Today at 12:30 pm, the City Auditor will hold a public meeting and randomly draw 8 names from the pool of 60 applicants to serve on the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. The 8 selected Commissioners will appoint 6 additional Commissioners from the pool of remaining applicants to ensure that the Commission reflects the diversity of the City of Austin. At least 1 of the Commissioners shall be a student that is duly enrolled in a community college or university in Austin. These 14 Commissioners will constitute Austin’s first Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission empowered to establish the boundaries of the 10 new geographic council districts for the City of Austin.

Community Garden Initiative – First General Meeting May 22
We recently posted that residents of the Walnut and Milwood Neighborhoods are exploring the possibility of creating a community garden at the corner of Adelphi and Amherst. The first meeting to discuss this plan is scheduled for May 22nd at 7PM in Milwood Library. For those interested in the progress that they have made and who still would like to join the garden initiative, this is your opportunity!

Thanks to all who came out to our own Milwood Library on Apr 24th to get connected with your neighbors and learn more about the “goings-on” in our surrounding community! Here’s a quick re-cap:

The Pool is OPEN!!!
The pool at Balcones District Park is now open! Until June 9th, the pool will be open to recreational swim from 4pm-8pm every Monday through Friday and from 10am-2pm on Saturday. The pool will be closed on Sundays.

A community garden initiative is underway in the hopes of bringing some life and beauty to an underdeveloped tract in the Walnut Crossing and Milwood neighborhood area.
