Summit Book Fair – May 12th

Summitt holds a Book Fair every spring, and all proceeds benefit the Library. This is organized by Mrs. Gilbert, our Librarian. The fair starts on Monday May 12th and runs everyday next week, starting at 7:30 and stays open until 3:30. If anyone is interested in helping out email Ann Brooke

Monster Book Sale – May 17
The Friends group and the Austin Public Library are holding a full-blown Monster Book Sale on Saturday, May 17, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, May 18, noon to 5:00 pm at 2209 West Anderson Lane in the North Star Home Center. Where is that? here.

Thousands of books, videos, CDs, DVDs, records and computer software will be available for sale. Most items sell for $1 to $2 and benefit the needs of the Library system.

Our Milwood Neighborhood, and the Neighborhood Association, got ia short write-up in this month’s Community Impact Newspaper.  The write-up can be found on page 25 of the paper, or here on their website. 

Early voting starts Monday, April 28 and lasts through May 6.  Election Day is Saturday May 10.  For both Early and Election Day Voting polling locations, visit the City’s website here.

 Many important topics will be on the ballot, including 3 places on the Austin City Council, ACC and AISD trustee elections, and proposed AISD bonds.  Learn more about each candidate as well as the other items on the ballot by visiting the League of Women Voters’ website (a non-partisan organization that works to promote political awareness). 

On April 29th, 7pm, Milwood Library, Capital Metro will come out to the Milwood library for an All Systems Go presentation. In addition, planning staff will attend that can speak to the circulation plans to connect Milwood to the new commuter rail station. Public transportation was a primary interest in our general meeting, so this is a good place to come learn about what is possible!

Tuesday night (tonight!), we have a real treat for you. We’ll have our general spring meeting starting at 7, then most of the city council candidates will be making the long drive to North Austin to come see you!

Place 4 candidates will be at 7:30.
Place 3 candidates will be at 8:00.
Place 1 candidates will be at 8:30.

this is a great opportunity to show our officials that North Austin is active and involved, so tell your neighbors and make it out!
