From the PTA:
Summitt is still looking for lunchroom monitors. Their duties are to assist the students in opening food items, student safety, some discipline (If a student gets too out of hand, administration or their teacher will step in.), releasing classrooms to take their trash and line up to wait for their teacher at the appropriate time, guide the student volunteer table washers They would need to speak English. If they are bilingual, that would be wonderful as well. The pay is minimum wage. The available positions are: one on Monday, two on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, two on Thursday, one on Friday (Monday through Friday is one position and Tuesday/Thursday is the other position.) If more than one person is interested in just a couple of days, there is possibility that people could share the positions. The time is from 10:30 to 1:00. The monitors do not work alone – unless someone calls in ill and then administration will step in if available. Anyone interested! needs to apply on line on the district on line website (austinisd.org) under the drop down menu "Careers" and fill out the application for "classified'. Summitt Administration will also need to be informed once their application is submitted.
Summitt also encourages parent volunteers. It is a great way to support the campus in a very much needed area. And they could volunteer on the days and the times when they can.
