Folks, on Saturday we got a couple of reports of yard signs getting stripped out of people’s yards in our neighborhood, apparently pretty systematically and on multiple streets, and I was asked to say something about it.
This is a politically active neighborhood, and as a regular election judge, I can tell you it is active across all political persuasions. But we also come together often as a community, which is based on respect, a common base of experience, and a love of our town. As we head into the home stretch on an important election, let’s remember those connections, and respect the free speech of all of our neighbors, and leave their yard signs alone. If you disagree, put up your own. Yay America.
P.S. In case it’s not completely clear, stealing yard signs, is, well, stealing. It is not a prank, it is theft. Look out for your neighbors just like you would any of the rest of their property.
