Clear Your Clutter in January

The Austin Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO-Austin) is holding its 3rd Annual Clear Your Clutter Day in honor of Get Organized Month. The event will be held at Austin High School on January 31st, 2009 from 10am to 2pm. The public is invited to dispose of one car load of items, free of charge. Our sponsors include: Junk Busters, Central Texas Secure Shredding and Eco Box. They will each have trucks on site to take the items away. The first 200 cars will receive free packets of information. There will also be random prizes given away. We are also holding a “Strangest Item Dropped Off” contest and the winner will be given a grand prize.

The purpose of Clear Your Clutter Day is to inform the public about Professional Organizers in the Central Texas area and the services they provide; to offer a valuable decluttering service individuals within the Austin community; and to encourage local and national businesses to participate in promoting their company or organizational products.

Interesting Recycling Tips

Found some interesting recycling tips in the Austin American Statesman.

Looking to recycle CD Cases
Tim Hamblin, video archivist at the Austin History Center, accepts donations of empty CD cases. Bring your donation to the Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe St., during business hours (available at www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/ahc). Contact Hamblin at 947-7305.

Looking to recycle Cooking Oil
You can donate used cooking oil to DieselGreen Fuels, 5217 E. Cesar Chavez St. Drop off donations at any time, preferably in the oil’s original container.

There is also an on-site container where you can deposit oil. DieselGreen cleans the oil to remove water and impurities and makes it available as raw oil or biodiesel at EcoWise, 110 W. Elizabeth St. In addition to individual donations, the organization collects used oil from 75 local restaurants.

Interested in learning more about the process? DieselGreen has an open house on Tuesdays from 7 to 10 p.m.

Call 247-FUEL or visit www.diesel greenfuels.com for more information.
